Mother: Sarah Ann BROOKES (abt 1871 - 9 Jun 1942)

George was educated at Mt. Hunter Public School. His occupation was Farmer when he enlisted in Camden October 1916 and served in the 17th Battalion A.I.F.

He left Sydney on the 'Suevic' 11th November 1916 and arrived in France via England 15 May 1917.

He was wounded in the field in Belgium with a gunshot wound to the back on 20 September 1917 from which he recovered and rejoined his battalion on 27 October 1917.

George was again wounded in the field in France with multiple gunshot wounds on 14 April 1918 and died two days later. Sadly his personal effects were lost when the ship 'Barunga' transporting them to Australia was lost at sea by enemy action.
